The name
Daedalus, and the work that still carries it
Daedalus was the craftsman people sent for when the job had no pattern yet. He built the Labyrinth for Minos, then the wings that carried him off Crete — feathers, thread, wax, and a plan that had to hold in the air. His son flew too high and fell. Daedalus reached Sicily and kept making: tools, temples, and machines meant to solve a problem someone actually had.
The shop takes that name for the same kind of work, not the myth. A vehicle that has to be back on the road. Adaptive equipment that has to fit the person in it. A part drawn before it is cut, bent, welded, or printed. Chart the course, then forge the piece — and leave a record of how it was done.
